Prices of Maruti Suzuki Cars To Hike From April 2021

According to recent reports country’s leading car manufacturing company, Maruti Suzuki has decided to hike the prices of its entire cars with effect from April 1, 2021. In a statement, the sources of the company said that to offset the impact of increasing cost of raw material, it has become necessary for the company to hike its prices.

Commenting on the decision of increasing the cost of MSIL vehicles, Mr Shashank Srivastava, MSI, Executive Director (Sales and Marketing) said, "We had emission norm conversion from April last year. It involved a lot of costs so we had thought that we would increase the prices but somehow the market situation last year wasn't so great so we did not increase prices at that time. But now input costs have increased dramatically, especially of the raw materials like steel, plastic and the rare metals,"

Moving ahead Mr Srivasta said that earlier also in January the company was compelled to hike the prices of its product range. He also added that the company is trying to increase its sales after the pandemic and therefore the price hike announced in January was very less. But now going through the existing conditions it is speculated the cost of raw materials will remain high in the coming months, which will adversely affect the cost of manufacturing and therefore it has become necessary to increase the prices. However, this price hike according to him will be based on the performance of every model.

In the words of Mr Srivasta, besides other reasons, the changing norms for emission and safety features have also been the main reason for increasing the prices of the products.
