Production of Renault Kaptur begins in Russia
France based car maker Renault has commenced the production of its first crossover Kapture in Russia. According to sources of company it is a memorable event in the history of company’s history when any of its products for global market is being manufactured in Russia. Developed on MO platform the Kaptur crossover is slated for launch in Indian car market sometimes during next year.

The India bound version of Kaptur is expected to continue with same engine configuration as offered in compact SUV Duster that is 1.6 litre 4 cylinder petrol engine and 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine. The Indian version will have AWD option. In Russian car market the crossover is going to make its debut in the month of August this year, however for that it has not yet disclosed any details regarding engine configuration. According to reports after launching the crossover in Russian car market, car maker will subsequently launch it in Vietnam and Brazilian car market where it would be offered with 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre flex fuel engine option followed by option of 2WD and 4WD.

Developed on company’s MO platform, in Indian car market it will be placed above Duster and will compete against upcoming Hexa crossover from Tata and Mahindra XUV500. With wheel base of 2,674mm, the crossover will have length of 4,333 mm, width of 1,813mm and height of 1,813 mm. It would be interested to know that going through the conditions of Indian roads it will have ground clearance of 204mm.
