Proposed Electric Cars From Domestic Car Makers

With the increasing popularity of the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor EV, MG ZS EV,  the Indian car market has started shifting to the electric segment. Inspired from the success enjoyed by these vehicles the car manufacturers are now launching the electric versions of their famous products. Where the Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Limited is readying to step in the segment with an electric version of WagonR. The Korean carmaker Hyundai is all set to launch the Kona compact SUV sometime in the month of August this year.
 
Along with these manufacturers, the domestic carmakers Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are also going to launch a wide range of electric cars from their yard. The home grown carmaker Mahindra has already announced to focus on electric vehicles and phase out fuel based engines from its line-up. It is believed that the electric car segment will witness the growth up to 30% of total sales by 2030 in the country. Well, the success of electric cars is written in the future, let's have a look at the electric cars from the Indian carmakers. 
 
Mahindra eXUV300: The electric version of SUV300 was showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2020 by the domestic carmaker. The SUV is expected to make its debut in 2022 and will be launched directly against the likes of Tata Nexon EV. It is claimed to offer an average of 375 km on a single charge. It will be developed on the new Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture 350 platform (MESMA350). It will be empowered with an in-house 350-volt powertrain.

Mahindra eKUV100: The micro SUV from the carmaker is expected to be launched by the end of this year or in the beginning of 2022. It is believed to be the most cost effective SUV in the country. It will be launched against Tata HBXEV. Under the hood it will be powered with a 40kW electric engine that churns the power of 53 bhp and the torque of 120Nm. It will be offered with both standard and fast-charging features.
 
Tata HBX EV: The micro SUV is speculated to be launched by the end of this or earlier next year. After launch it will compete against the proposed micro SUV eKUV100 from Mahindra & Mahindra. It will be equipped with the Ziptron EV powertrain which also powers the NEXON EV. The Ziptron EV comes packed with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery boosting the power of 129 bhp. It is reported to deliver an average of 312 km on a single charge.
 
Tata Altroz EV: The electric version of premium hatchback Altroz was showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2020 and is believed to be launched by the end of this year. It will be empowered with the same powertrain as offered in the Nexon EV. It is endorsed to deliver an average of 250 km to 300 km on a single charge. The battery has an efficiency of charging up to 80% in 60 minutes with the help of DC fast charging system.
