Rajasthan Tops In the Sales OF EVs Throughout India
With a move to the adaptation of electric mobility, the sales of electric vehicles have gained momentum in the country, however, there is a long way to go in this direction. According to sales statistics of electric vehicles sold in different states, Rajasthan tops in the sales of electric vehicles across the country. The sales statistics received from the Ministry of Road and Transport, Government of Rajasthan, the state has recorded a six-times growth during the three successive years. This growth in the sales of electric vehicles reveals the enthusiasm of the people of Rajasthan to move to electric mobility.
Based on the data for the sales of electric vehicles, the sales of two-wheelers are higher than four-wheelers. The reason behind the slow growth of electric cars in the state is the concern of people regarding the absence of appropriate infrastructure on the outskirts and highways. In the words of K L Swami, Commissioner, Department of Transport, Government of Rajasthan, “There is a continuous increase in the sale of electric vehicles in the state, as more and more people are shifting towards better and advanced technology. The rising trend is also due to the policy of the state government, which is providing grants on purchase of e-vehicles”.
According to Nishchal Chaudhary, Founder and Director of an electric scooter company, “Rajasthan contributes 6 per cent of our total sales whereas Jaipur contributes 24 per cent of total sales in Rajasthan”. The government of Rajasthan announced its policy for electric vehicles last year and introduced cash subsidies on electric two-wheeler and three-wheelers. The EV policy of the state reveals, that the government will offer GST to the buyers of electric vehicles in the state.
