Developed on the chassis of compact SUV  Duster, Kaptur the proposed SUV from French car maker Renault is one of the highly awaited vehicles by company in Indian car market, which is speculated to make its debut in middle of 2017. Now, according to recent reports the prototype of same has been caught testing on Indian roads for the first time, strengthening the speculations of its launch in 2017 stronger.  After launch in Indian car market Kaptur will compete against Mahindra XUV 500 and Tucson from Hyundai Motors India Limited and price in the range of Rs. 14 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh. It is reported that company is although working on minimising the cost by localising the raw materials.

 

 

Under the hood, Kaptur will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant will be enriched with 1.6 litre engine that churns the power of 102 bhp and torque of 145 Nm, while the diesel will be empowered with 1.5 litre engine that boosts the power of 108 bhp and torque of 248Nm. The transmission duties will be managed by six speed manual gearbox system along with an option of automatic transmission system.

 

 

Physically the Kaptur SUV will have length of 4,333 mm, width of 1,813 mm and height of 1,613 mm and the wheelbase of 2,647mm. It will have boot capacity of 387 litre but can be extended up-to 1,200 litres. Along with various contemporary features the SUV will embellish features like rear seat split in ratio of 60:40, seven inch touchscreen display, engine start/stop system, steering mounted control system, automatic climate control system, Bluetooth connectivity and many more.

 

 

It is speculated that going through the last two products introduced by car maker i.e., compact SUV Duster and hatchback Kwid, SUV Kaptur will also repeat the same success story.
