Renault could delay Renault Lodgy MPV launch
Strange but true, Renault has delayed launch of its MPV Renault Lodgy. The car maker is said to have made some last minute changes to its launch plan for this year and as per the information, Renault will be launching Lodgy in 2015. The cause of delay is still unknown but the slowdown in car sales must be an obvious deterrent. However, some experts believe that Renault is a car maker that is very aggressive about India and is willing to take challenges and thus despite of all rumors of a delay; it could keep the Lodgy launch plan intact for India. It is Renault that took a challenge and launched Renault Duster in the SUV segment and it went so well that the car maker must be thinking that it could have launched it sometime earlier.
The MPV segment is still open to new offerings, though Chevrolet Enjoy is about to launch and Maruti Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova and Chevrolet Tavera are well established occupants in the segment. Despite of this fact that it will not be a cakewalk now as Ertiga has swept the sales in the segment to its side; the Lodgy has all the recipe to be a hit in the segment just as Duster is in the SUV segment.
The Lodgy MPV by this French car maker has already hit European markets and has proved to be a success there. This car is another offering from Renault’s low cost car brand Dacia and it seems that just as another Dacia offering Duster was priced so well that it had brought sleepless nights to the segment big wigs; the Lodgy too will repeat the story. In India, the Lodgy is all set to take the 1.5 L KPK turbo diesel engine option under the hood and in order to keep the price down, the car maker will be producing and assembling it at its Chennai plant.
