Renault Duster booking could commence soon

The fourth car from Renault stable – Renault Duster SUV is soon to start the car war in the compact SUV market in India. As per the latest information, the Renault dealers could commence bookings for the Duster SUV as the car is nearing its launch in July. The Renault website has changed the “Coming in June” to “Coming Soon” and so it is sure that it is preparing for a July launch. The SUV Duster price will in all combinations will be around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and it is expected to eat away the market of Mahindra SUVs and Tata SUVs which are priced higher in the segment. Though being a 5 seater, the SUV will take a second preference for those who prefer big SUVs.

To be available in both petrol and diesel engine options, the Duster SUV diesel variants are expected to gain volumes. However, the brand has not settled well in India and this will be the reason for the French car maker not expecting huge numbers initially. Though Renault has done remarkably well in India with the Renault Fluence and Renault Pulse hatchback. Auto industry experts believe that the new Renault SUV Duster will be able to settle soon in the segment as the second offering which is Ford Ecosport is scheduled later this year or early next year while the third one Maruti XA Alpha will be there next year, so what remains is that Duster will be the sole prominent offering in the segment after the existing SUV Premier Rio.

The Duster is expected to be powered by 1. 5 L K9K diesel engine that translates 85 bhp power to the wheels with the help of 5 speed transmission. There will also be a 110 bhp diesel motor option for the power cravers. Whereas the 1.6 L petrol turbocharged engine with 100 bhp will be the most powerful trim in petrol. Renault has high hopes with the Duster specially after Renault Koleos has not been able to do wonders to the car maker.
