Renault Duster helps French car giant gain success in India

Renault India must be celebrating its success in the country and must be crowning Renault Duster for it. And why not, when out of the total 5924 units it had sold in December 2012, 4485 were Dusters. In addition to this, the car maker has also released its annual sales figures for 2012. Renault sold over 35052 cars in 2012 and this means that it sold close to 3000 units a month last year. This success saga, as experts believe, is the direct result of an aggressive strategy and one after the other new car offerings. Not just new cars, Renault cars in India are in fact synonymous with style, performance and long life. The Renault Duster is the one that can comfortable be called as the leader in Renault car sales in 2012.

In December Renault sold 820 units of Renault Scala sedan that is a rebadged, reinvent of Nissan Sunny car. It also sold 515 units of Renault Pulse hatchback which is again a remake of Nissan Micra. The Renault sedan Fluence could manage to have 68 unit sales while Renault Koleos SUV too had to compromise with only 36 units. Thus except Duster (4485 unit sales in December) no other Renault car could make big wonders for the car maker. Performance, excellent mileage and urbane looks are the ones that helped Duster rock the segment. Also, being the first in segment, it really enjoys the first blush till its rivals Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha launches this year.

Experts believe that over 35k sales in the first year of its aggressiveness mean that it will replicate its success to manifold in the years to come. Also, Renault’s continuous endeavor to launch new cars and cars that people like has done pretty well in the country. Though initially it was on wrong track and targeted the luxury segment first but as soon as it entered the mass segment with Duster and Pulse, it has started picking up pace. Now, in 2013 as well Renault has the same strategy and in this year it will also be introducing Dacia brand and a slew of other cars in the country.
