Renault Duster launch in July! Fourth car from the company

Renault India keeps its promises and will be launching the Renault Duster next month. With back to back launches after it severed its ties with Mahindra, Renault has been very aggressive as far as India is concerned. It made its debut with Renault Fluence and then came Renault Koleos followed by the small car Nissan Micra double Renault Pulse. Duster SUV will be the fourth offering out of the five slated this year. The fifth one will be Renault Scala sedan which is based on the Nissan Sunny sedan. The Renault Duster price in India is expected to be Rs 8.5 lakh and a July first/second week launch is what the industry expects.

In production at the Nissan Renault joint plant at Chennai, the Duster SUV is a compact SUV that is destined to be a strong rival of existing Premier Rio and primarily upcoming SUVs – Ford Ecosport, Maruti XA Alpha besides others that are though lesser known but may pop out suddenly. The Duster is basically a compact SUV with off roading capabilities in its genes. Why India is eagerly waiting for this SUV is the fact that it starts below Rs 9 lakh that is the price which is cheaper than other big SUVs. Being compact in size, the Duster SUV will have the look of a sports utility and the price of a car.

Meanwhile, some have over enthusiastically expressed the expected price of the Duster to be somewhere between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh. If Renault is able to price it in this band, expect the Duster to sweep the market single handedly. As per the Renault Duster details available, it will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The engines from the Nissan Sunny are expected to do their duty under the Duster as well.
