Encouraged from the government of India’s objective to make Indian auto industry dependent on electric vehicles by 2030, French car maker Renault has placed an order of manufacturing electric motor and transmission for manufacturing its electric vehicles to one of the car component manufacturing company’s located in India. It is reported that the car maker intends to make India as a hub for electric vehicles in coming years. According to reports the Indian unit of car maker is also working for manufacturing electric vehicles in Chennai that would be offered in the International car market. The electric components developed by Indian manufacturer for Renault would be supplied to electric car manufacturers located in European, American and Chinese car market.

 

 

According to the authentic sources of the company,  “The company wants to make India a hub for its electric vehicle component manufacturing since the cost is less and the Union government is expected to give exemptions and subsidies for manufacturing parts of these vehicles which requires a different ecosystem under the second avatar of the FAME scheme,”. The sources also said that the company wants India to emerge as the centre point of developing the components for electric vehicles. It would be interested to know that the operation of supplying electric vehicles to International market is not a difficult talk for the car Renault, because company is already involved in the business of supplying internal combustion engines and car components to the International car manufacturers.

 

Apart from development of components for electric vehicles in India the company also plans to launch the electric variant of its best selling hatchback Kwid in the Indian car market later this year after launching the same in the Chinese car market. Interestingly, apart from Renault various other car makers are also interested in interested for developing India as the hub to develop components for electric vehicles.
