Renault India bringing CMF based Van against MSIL Omni/Eeco

Grapevine is that Renault India, the Indian alliance of French car maker Renault is going to bring a van in Indian car market to compete against Maruti Suzuki Omni and Eeco. The van will be developed on CMF-A platform on which hatchback Kwid and Datsun redi-Go are developed. The van is expected to make its debut sometimes during 2018.

Under the hood it is anticipated to be enriched with 0.8 litre petrol engine which at present is offered in  Renault Kwid. However, according to reports company is going to update the existing engine configuration of Kwid with 1.0 litre petrol engine sometimes during this year. The ongoing 0.8 petrol engine is proving to be the best fuel efficient engine offering an average of 25.17 kmpl.
 
Manufacturing cars on CMF-A platform has been a beneficial practise for car makers as it facilitates them to accomplish 98% of manufacturing task in local market. Interestingly vehicles manufactured on this platform have also succeeded in enhancing the sales of companies. Where Renault Kwid has recorded bookings of more than 1,50,000, Datsun redi-Go has garnered 10,000 bookings so far within a span of month since its launch.
