The Kiger is developed on a Common Module Family-A+ (CMFA+) platform shared between Renault and the Japanese carmaker Nissan. The French carmaker has developed the compact SUV Triber also on the same platform. During the Global NCAP test, the compact SUV scored 12.34 points out of 17 points for adult protection, and 21.05 points out of 49 points. Thus, scoring four stars for adult safety and 2 stars for child protection. On the other side, the compact SUV Magnite which is also developed on the same platform from the Japanese carmaker Nissan also scored 4 stars rating during the Global NCAP test.

Commenting on the achievement, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India said, “Safety is of paramount importance for Renault and all our products meet and exceed the requisite safety standards set by Indian Regulatory Authorities. Kiger combines the best Renault has to offer: our expertise in innovative cars and in-depth knowledge of customer needs. Renault Kiger has been well accepted by the customers with the strong value proposition that it offers in terms of distinctive design, smart features, and performance. This is a proud moment for Renault in India, as Kiger was developed and produced in India, for Indian customers first, before we took it to the world. The 4-Star rating by GNCAP reiterates our commitment to bringing technologically advanced products which are safe yet trendy.”

Speaking about the safety features, the compact SUV Kiger comes equipped with four airbags, ABS+EBD, impact sensing door unlock, rear parking sensors, and seat belts with pre-tensioner and load limiter. The top trim is upgraded with a speed-sensing door lock and ISOFIX anchors. It would be interesting to know that all the vehicles from French and Japanese carmakers have received four-star ratings in the Global NCAP test.
