Renault-Nissan Collaborates With Dongfeng To Develop Electric Cars

According to recent reports Renault-Nissan alliance has signed the treaty with Chinese group Dongfeng Motor to develop electric car for Chinese car market. The joint venture of automakers will be named as eGT  New Energy Automotive Co, will start the production of electric mini-SUV from 2019 at the production unit of Dongfeng and will be sold with its logo. It would be interested to know that Chinese group Dongfeng is already involved in the business of developing vehicles in collaboration with both Nissan and Renault.

It is reported that world’s biggest car market China is interested to make all the cars running on roads to be empowered with an electric battery or with plug-in hybrid engine so that the increasing level of pollution could be controlled in major cities. And as both Renault and Nissan lead the race of developing electronic vehicles, they were struggling to establish the roots of their electric cars in China due to tough competition from Tesla.
 
Apart from Renault and Nissan, US car maker Ford Motor has also announced that it is working on finalizing the terms and conditions with another Chinese car maker Anhui Zotye Automobile Co for developing electric car with new brand name. This organization will manufacture vehicles to compete the alliance of Tesla, Daimler and General Motors.
 
In the newly developed collaboration between Renault-Nissan and Dongfegn, 25%-25%  of the shares will be hold by both Renault and Nissan individually whereas 50 percent of the shares will be hold by Chinese group Dongfeng.
