Renault Sherpa military vehicle showcased at Defexpo

If you think that Renault only makes small cars such as Renault Pulse and sedans such as Renault Fluence, its time to change the opinion as the French car maker has showcased its fully armored military vehicle Renault Sherpa at the seventh Defence Expo held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi recently. The Defexpo is a biennial event that showcases the Land, Naval and Internal Security Systems. As per media reports, the Sherpa is designed on a flexible platform so that anything from fully armoured truck to transport trucks can be developed on it. It can run in water, land, sand, rock etc. and can take on any terrain.

Looking at the configuration of Renault Sherpa even the mightiest of the SUVs such as Audi Q7 will look back at their capabilities. Specially designed to cater to both the on and off road transport needs of the military, the Sherpa can challenge any terrain. Equipped with a 292 PS MD 5 diesel engine, it is never a dearth of power for the vehicle. A full time all wheel drive makes sure that even if one wheel gets grip over land, the Sherpa moves on. For the comfort of the occupants, it has air conditioning and has power steering that makes it easier to maneuver on and off the road. It has run-flat tyres. It can seat four to five soldiers and is available in armored and non-armoured variants. A roof top weapon system ensures that every enemy reaches its destiny through the Sherpa.
