Sales of Maruti Suzuki cars in April 2013 downed by 3 percent

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest passenger vehicle maker has announced the sales figures for the month of April 2013 with a downfall of 3 per cent. The company sold 97,302 units in April this year compared to total sales of 1,00,415 units in the same month of previous year.

The company reported marginal rise in domestic sales at 90,523 units compared to the total sales of 90,255 units in the corresponding month of year 2013. Exports of the MSIL went down by 33.28 per cent compared to the sales of 10,160 units same month of last year. Meanwhile, sales of the Maruti small cars like M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, went up by 13.69%. The company sold 34,927 units of these entry level small cars in April this year while compared to the sales of 30,720 units in April last year. Maruti Suzuki's premium segment small cars like Estilo, Ritz and Swift reported 17.40% deep in sales at 21,535 units compared to the sales of 26,072 units same month of previous year.

Meanwhile, the sales of flagship compact sedan, Maruti Swift Dzire rose by 25.38% to 19,446 units from 15,510 units in April 2012. But, the sales of sedan, SX4 downed by 5.21 per cent to 601 units from 634 units in same period of year 2012. There were no buyers for luxury sedan Kizashi in April this year. On the other hand, sales of utility vehicles slipped by 4.92 per cent to 5,318 units from 5,593 units in the same month of last year. Sales of MarutiVans were dropped by 25.82% to 8,696 units from 11,723 units in April 2012. Despite of this, the total sales of Maruti's passenger vehicles rose by 4.89 per cent to 76,509 units in last month from 72,939 units compared to the same month of previous year.
