Skoda India eyes to enhance localisation

The Czech subsidiary of Volkswagen, Skoda Auto is adapting new strategies to aggravate its growth in one of the most thriving automotive markets in the world, the Indian car market. Skoda Auto India eyes at attaining the 1.5 million units sales mark by 2018. Skoda are fabricated a new arrangement of leadership under a new configuration stature. The company is all set to invest a whopping Rs 300 crore in the domestic market to enhance assembly of its cars locally along with accelerating production. Skoda India is working aggressively on the new range of products that it plans to add to its fleet of cars in India in order to fuel its low sales.

Commenting on the growth plans and re-structuring the configuration for a better outlook in India, one of the Skoda officials stated that India is a key market for Skoda which will play a major role in Skoda’s growth curve. Skoda of late inducted a new position, Managing Director, in its structure and appointed Mr Sudhir Rao as the first managing director. The plan will work like this, all the four executive directors will be headed by Mr Sudhir Rao along with reporting to the board members. This structure has been designed to help the management to make wise and rational decisions that will work in the favour of the company. Indian car market is dynamic and hence it is essential to take the right decision to go with the flow that is why Skoda has come up with a changed line of structure.

Mr. Sudhir Rao  in-turn will be reporting to the board members looking after the Indian market. To attain success in India, it is necessary to focus on local assembly of the Skoda cars in India, this requires to enlarge the Aurangabad facility. Skoda has carved a niche for itself in the premium segment of the Indian car market but it needs to mellow down on the pricing part to get a foothold in India.
