Skoda India working on a new 7 Seater SUV for Indian car market
Although Indian car market has witnessed huge dump in sales since last year, but still it is the first choice of major auto makers who find huge growth potential in Indian car market and therefore all of them are regularly updating their vehicles and launching them in India. Following the same trend Skoda India the Indian arm of Czech car maker Skoda Motors is speculating to explore its share in India and to achieve this objective apart from launching the facelift versions of its existing models it is also going to launch few new products. The major products to receive the facelift are Fabia, Rapid and Yeti. But apart from these updates car maker is also working on bringing a new seven seater SUV in Indian car market which is considered as an advanced version of its existing SUV Yeti.
The proposed SUV would be larger and of-course more expensive then Yeti which is regarded as one of the expensive products from company, and which due to its high price did not succeed in making its strong presence in India. It would be therefore interesting to see that what strategy the Czech car maker will follow to make this SUV overcome the failure of Yeti and enjoy huge success in India. The one way could be locally assembling of its parts so as to minimize the cost of its production. If company adopts this policy then it is expected that it will adopt the same policy for Yeti and Fabia which have criticized due to their high price tag and would be lesser when assembled locally.
The proposed seven seater is expected to make its debut between 2016 – 17 and is reported to be built on Volkswagen MQB platform and is anticipated to be offered in both petrol and diesel variants of 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre engine respectively.
