Skoda Launches Kodiaq With Starting Price Of Rs. 34.49 Lakh
Czech car maker Skoda has finally launched its highly awaited seven seater SUV Kodiaq in Indian car marker with the starting price of Rs. 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). As the Kodiaq is first ever SUV by the maker it has not left any stone unturned to make its big hit in the market. The new SUV will now compete against Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Ford Endeavour, and Isuzu MU-X. Besides these contenders the Kodiaq will also compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan because of the same MQB platform use for manufacturing both these vehicles. It would be interested to know that in the international market Kodiaq is offered with five seater option, but interestingly in India we are blessed with seven seats option.

Mechanically the Kodiaq is empowered with 1968cc displacement 2 litre diesel engine that is capable of boosting the power of 148 bhp and torque of 340Nm. The transmission duties will be performed by seven speed DSG gearbox with all wheel drive option. It is endorsed to deliver an average of 16.25 kmpl. As far as availability of petrol trim and manual gearbox is concerned, it might disappoint to buyers waiting for both these features. Because at present company has no plans for offering Kodiaq enriched with both these elements.
On the exterior front the Kodiaq carries almost the same looks as offered in almost various vehicles launched by the car maker. On the front fascia it sports ‘in your face’ front grille, the headlamp cluster integrates LED headlamps and LED DRLs followed by 18 inch large wheels. Dimensionally it has length of 4,697mm, height of 1,676 mm, width of 1,882 mm, wheelbase of 2,791 mm and ground clearance of 187 mm.
Inside the cabin it sports large touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features offered inside the cabin includes umbrella in the door pockets, a panoramic sunroorf, hands free parking assist, ambient lighting, rear leg space and headroom. Moving ahead it also sports sleep package for the rear seat passengers with headrest. Along with this it also embellishes set of blankets as an option.
