Instead of unveiling the next generation of its premium hatchback Scala in Europe, Czech car maker Skoda unveiled the hatchback in Israel, where it is also one of the best selling European cars. In its new avatar, the Scala will replace its sibling Rapid Spaceback. Now, after unveiling the hatchback in Israel the carmaker is all set to soon make its debut in the global market. But, the question which at present has created a big fuss in the global car market is that will the Czech carmaker launch the generation next Scala in the Indian car market or not? Because in recent years, the Indian car market has emerged as the preferred choice for almost every car manufacturer with all of them launching their products in India, after their international debut.

 

 

Commenting about the launch of Skoda Scala in the Indian car market, Mr. Bernhard Maier, CEO, Skoda Auto, said,“We will start with cars that are being developed specifically for India and then look at more models for the Indian market and the new Scala could be one of them”.  According to reports the company has already initiated the process of assessing the market requirements, to understand the potential for its products. However, the process of finding market potential will continue till 2022 and it is quite possible that the company might introduce Scala before that in India.

 

 

But, the question of concern among the carmaker can be its pricing, because at present going to tax structure for C-segment hatchback, the buyers are not ready to pay the price, that could be paid for buying the premium SUVs and sedans. Anyhow, if the hatchback is launched is launched in the Indian car market, then it will be empowered with 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is capable of boosting the power of 150 PS and the torque of 250Nm. The transmission duties will be performed by six-speed manual transmission system followed by an option of seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission system.

 

 

Other notable features will include full LED head and tail lights, dynamic rear indicators, electric tailgate, 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with ten speaker sound system with a subwoofer, nine airbags, 18 inch alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof and many more.
