Sports Carmaker Lotus Unveils Its First Electric Car Eletre
The British carmaker Lotus has unveiled its first electric SUV Eletre in the international market. The design of this plug-in crossover SUV, is inspired by its sibling Evija hypercar. The Eletre SUV is the first electric vehicle out of three new EVs that the UK based carmaker will launch during the next three years. The other three EVs in the pipeline of Lotus are a coupe-sedan, a sports car (natch), and an SUV.

The Lotus Eletre is based on the company’s new Electric Premium architecture that is capable of integrating batteries of different sizes, motors, and new smart driving technologies. Literally, the Eletre is the brand’s Geely-owned second EV that receives lots of remarkable features like a lidar sensor mounted on the front and rear portions of the roof, and camera-only side-view mirrors.
It is reported, that Lotus Eletre is a performance-based Hyper Electric SUV that will touch the mark of 100 kmph in less than 3 seconds. It will generate the power of 600 bhp from the battery of 100kWh. To charge the SUV, the company will offer a charger of 350kW and deliver the range of 400 km after 20 minutes of charging. It is reported to deliver an average of 600 km on a single charge. It can also be charged with a 22kW AC charger.
Speaking about the features available in Lotus Eletre it will come with features like ‘end-to-end autonomous driving technology” and OTA software update feature, followed by self-driving abilities. In a statement issued by the company, “a customer can use their smartphone app to request Eletre to drive them autonomously from a nearby parking space, and then autonomously repark once the journey ends”.
