Still 70% of the Recalled Vehicles Yet to be Rectified by Volkswagen
It is almost more than a year when German Car maker Volkswagen was found culprit for equipping its vehicles with defective device that failed in revealing actual emission results across the world. After which the car maker recalled all the defective vehicles to rectify the issue. In the same series about 3.4 lakh diesel vehicles were recalled by the maker for replacing the defective parts. Now according to recent reports received from the Indian arm of German car maker till date only 30% of the vehicles have been rectified by the Indian alliance of German car maker.

Commenting on this the sources of company said that the delay has been due to occurrence of problems in different vehicles manufactured by the car maker. The group had recalled about 3.4 vehicles of different brands within the country comprising of Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda sold between the period from 2008 to November 2015. The company had announced to upgrade the engines of vehicles recalled. On the question of delay in job of updating the defective vehicles, sources of company said that while updating the engine different parameters like type of engine used by the manufacturer, market conditions in different countries, gearboxes, year of their manufacturing etc. Moving ahead the spokesperson of the company said"Once they were approved by the authorities in Germany, these updates were tested by the Indian authorities. All of this has been a lengthy process and that caused a delay,”
Once the vehicles are updated that are required to undergo the test organized by ARAI for approval and after getting its certificate the vehicles are handed over back to the original owners. According to sources of the company the vehicles sold and manufactured in Indian car market after December 2015 have been updated accordingly and have approved by ARAI.
