Subsidies Up to Rs 20,000 On Electric Vehicles In Rajasthan
After Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, and Telangana, Rajasthan is the new name to join the bandwagon of states announcing incentives to the buyers of electric vehicles in the state. According to the new Electric Vehicles policy issued by the government, doing this will help in increasing the sales of electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers within the state. The incentive structure announced by the government of Rajasthan is different from the other states.
According to sources of the Transport Department, the government will reimburse the amount of the State Goods and Service Tax (SGST) on purchasing an electric vehicle. The amount of subsidy will be paid on the purchase of two-wheelers and three-wheelers according to the efficiency of their batteries. This grant will apply to the electric vehicles purchased between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.
The electric vehicle policy announced by the government of Rajasthan is complicated. The dealer selling the vehicle will be required to recharge the SGST on the EV, this amount should be equivalent to the amount written in the bill.
Speaking about the subsidy given on electric vehicles according to the efficiency of their batteries. The lowest subsidy of Rs 5,000 is offered on the two-wheelers with a battery of up to 2kWH. The highest subsidy of Rs 20,000 is offered on three-wheelers with a battery of more than 5kWH. The slabs of incentives on batteries are determined upon their kWH power. The incentives announced by the government of Rajasthan are more than announced by the central government in the FAME 2 policy. The buyers have the facility to avail the benefits offered by both the state and central government to minimize the actual cost of the vehicle.
