Supreme Court to Get Strict on BS III Vehicles
It seems that going through the concern of increasing pollution Ministry of Transportation might issue some new directions in coming months. According to recent reports Supreme Court of India has issued an order to all automaker to provide it the details of all unsold vehicles that were manufactured in compliance of BS-III norms. The order regarding this was passed by the bench of judges comprising of Justice Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta after the request received from Environment Pollution Control Authority constituted by the Apex Court required information regarding the implementation of its notification wherein it has recommended stopping the sale of vehicles that are manufactured in compliance of BS-IV stage after March 31, 2017.

It is reported that in its order Apex Court ordered domestic automaker Bajaj Autos and Japanese car maker Honda Motors to provide it the details of vehicles manufactured by them every month since January 2016. According to reports Senior lawyer Harish Salve, who is also an amicus curiae in this matter has also supported the deadline determined by the government and revealed that the notification clarifies to strictly stop the sale of BS-III vehicles in India after March 31, 2017. On the other side, SIAM, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers has said that notification is regarding the stop the sales of such vehicles after the dead line but not stopping the production of BS-III vehicles till March 31, 2017.
Commenting on the matter sources of Bajaj Auto said, that they favor the deadline determined by the Government of India for selling the BS-IV compliant vehicles from April 1, 2017. It would be important to mention that last year Environment Pollution Control Authority had passed an order that it will not allow the sale or registration of vehicles that are not according to BS-IV compliance.
