Swifts records sale of I million units

India’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved one more milestone in its success story. According to reports recently company sold out one million unit of its highly acclaimed car in hatchback segment, Maruti Swift. For the first time Swift was launched in Indian market during 2005 in petrol variant, after which in 2007 MSIL launched its diesel variant. In 2010 car succeed in reaching selling the mark of 50,000 units. In 2011 company introduced few cosmetic changes in Swift which helped in enhancing its sales.

At present Maruti Suzuki Swift is offered in both petrol and diesel variants which are energized by 1.2 litre K series engine developing the maximum power of 86 bhp and 1.3 litre multijet engine developing the power of 74 bhp respectively. Engines of both variants are covered with five speed manual transmission system through which power is transmitted to both front and rear wheels.

It would be interested to know despite of various economical problems for instance financial crisis, decline in sales of vehicles MSIL succeed in retaining its first position in Indian car market. One more thing which needs to be mentioned here more about Swift is that 50% of cars sold by Maruti in hatchback segment are Swift. According to sources the next facelift in Swift will be introduced in 2014 after which company will launch generation next Swift in 2017.
