Tata Kite 5 might be named as Tata Viago or Tata Altigo

Developed on hatchback Tiago’s platform and codenamed as Kite 5 the compact sedan by domestic car maker was showcased by car maker during the Indian Auto Expo 2016 and was supposed to debut sometimes during the second half of ongoing year. But, going through the encouraging response of customers today Tiago hatchback car maker had postponed its launch till second quarter of next year. Now the year coming to an end with each passing day, home-grown car maker has started giving final shape to its strategy of launching the Kite 5 compact sedan in India. According to recent reports car maker has now decided few names for this proposed compact sedan. The shortlisted names for Kite 5 are Tata Viago, Tata Altigo and Tata Tigor. It is reported that car maker is interested to add “go” in the end of the compact sedan, referring its resemblance to Tiago family.

Prior to this, in 2015 also company had shortlisted few names Sway, Dribble, Canvas and Ingrid for compact sedan Kite 5. According to reports company had finalized two names Zica and Sway for hathcback Tiago and compact sedan Kite 5. However, in later months due to affect of Zika virus in various countries across the world, Tata Motors finalized the name of Tiago.

Mechanically the Tata Kite 5 will outsource same engine configuration of 1.2 litre three cylinder petrol and 1.05 litre three cylinder diesel engine from Tata Tiago boosting the power of 83.8  bhp and 69 bhp respectively. Both the variants will be offered with Eco and City driving modes. Inside the cabin Kite 5 will be embellished with five inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting connectivity with USB, aux and Bluetooth. The list of safety features that would be adorned in Kite 5 will include dual airbags, ABS+EBD, and corner stability control system (CSC).
