Tata Motors Grabs Order of 10,000 Electronic Vehicles From EESL

With government’s endeavor of encouraging the use of electronic vehicles by the officials of government departments, Energy Efficient Services Ltd (EESL) the autonomous department under the Ministry of Power has passed an order of acquiring 10,000 electronic vehicles from the home grown car maker Tata Motors. According to the reports from authentic sources the home grown car maker quoted the least price for the vehicles. The estimated of each vehicle is Rs. 11.2 lakh (including goods and service tax and fiver year warranty).
 In the first allotment 500 vehicles would be supplied by the Tata Motors during the month of November this year while the remaining vehicles would be supplied equally in different phases. According to the sources of EESL the quotation supplied by the domestic car maker was 25% lower than the bids submitted by the other manufacturers. Along with the Tata Motors also offered warrant of five years as compared to warranty of three years offered by its contenders.

According to Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, EESL, "There were three players who bid for the tender. Tata Motors bid the lowest and will be given 60% of the order other bidder Nissan Motors from Japan was disqualified because it did not provide details of what it was offering. As far as third bidder Mahindra & Mahindra is concerned We will talk the management to lower their cost. If they agree on lower prices, they will be given the remaining 40% order. In an alternative situation, the entire order will go to Tata Motors," 
 
It would be interested to know that EESL had invited bids from the manufacturers of the electric vehicle during the month of August for 10,000 vehicles. These vehicles would be the part of government’s strategy to replace the existing fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles from government departments within the period of next 3-4 years.
