Tata Motors to equip its upcoming vehicles with AMT system
Going through the prevailing conditions in Indian car market it seems that in coming future manual gearbox will become a history and future cars will be equipped with automated manual transmission system. According to Mr. Tim Leverton, President and Head Advanced and Product engineering, Tata Motors said company will be soon introducing the automatic manual transmission in its upcoming car Zest, showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2014.
It is reported that company will introduce AMT in the diesel version of Tata Zest after which the same transmission system will be offered in the petrol version of same car and also in other cars manufactured under company’s hood. It is speculated that the same transmission system will be also introduced in Tata Nano. The recently showcased Tata Nano Twist in Indian Auto Expo 2014 was equipped with F-Tronic five speed AMT gearbox.
It would be interested to know that the same transmission system was also offered in the Maruti Celerio launched recently during the Indian Auto Expo 2014. Integration of this system facilitates the driver to drive their car either in automatic system or in manually gear shift. The success of automated manual transmission is still hidden in future but it is interested to know that in coming future Indian car enthusiasts will have wide options of driving cars bestowed with latest technical features.
