Tata Motors To Introduce AMT Transmission In Half Of Its PV Segment

Flying high on the sky of success with launch of Tiago hatchback, compact SUV Hexa and compact sedan Tigor, domestic car maker is focusing on equipping 50% of its passenger vehicles with automated transmission system to enhance its sales in future. This was told by one of the high officials of the car maker. Recently the home grown car maker had launched AMT system in its best selling hatchback Tiago in the Indian car market with the price tag of Rs. 4.79 lakh.

According to the recent industry reports encouraged from the success enjoyed by the Tiago AMT system,  Tata Motors is planning to introduce AMT version of its recently launched compact sedan Tigor in coming few months. Along with this the AMT system will also be introduced in the upcoming and highly awaited compact SUV Nexon. In the words of Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors,"When we launched AMT variant of Tiago on top-end variant earlier this year, there was a substantial jump in sales of the model. Over 15 per cent of total Tiago booked today are AMT variant,"

Moving ahead Mr. Srivatsa also added that company is working on introducing more affordable version of AMT system in mid trims of Tiago to make it more popular among the car enthusiasts. In his words the company expects to explore its sales up-to 10% by introducing AMT version in Tiago hatchback. From the sales statistics revealed by the group it is selling about 5,000 units of Tiago every month with waiting period of  15-40 days depending upon the demand of the variant. Whereas the compact sedan records an average monthly sales of 2,500 units every month and is speculated to witness enhancement in this number upto 3000 by Diwali.
