Tata Motors to Name its New Compact Sedan as Tigor
Finally the suspense behind the name of new compact sedan scheduled for launch by domestic car maker Tata Motors has come to an end today with official report from the company. It is reported that the compact sedan will be named as Tata Tigor. Developed on the platform of sub compact sedan Kite 5 the new Tigor will be developed on IMPACT design philosophy and carries most of its cues from company’s recent initiative Tiago, which has turned to be a game changer for the domestic car maker. The compact sedan is reported to make its debut during the month of March this year and will compete against upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire facelift, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and Honda Amaze.
Mechanically it will be empowered with 1.2 litre three cylinder Revotron petrol engine and 1.05 litre three cylinder Revotorq diesel engine, outsourced from Tiago hatchback. The transmission duties will be performed by five speed manual gearbox along with option of AMT system in later months. Talking about the IMPACT design philosophy it is now being introduced in all the upcoming cars that are being manufactured by Tata Motors Talking about Tigor it is reported that company is addressing it as Sytlback designing pattern that will be offered with new radical silhouette that will be introduced for the first time in the segment. It is anticipated that this design language will give new dimensions to the segment making it perfect combination of style and substance.
Declaring the name of Tata Tigor, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, "After HEXA, we are speeding towards our next market introduction, the Tata Tigor which opens a new category of style and attitude in this segment. The break-free design dynamics of Tata Tigor makes it India's 1st 'Styleback'. We will announce its commercial launch soon and are excited to see the IMPACT of the 'Styleback' on our customers.
