The new Tata Punch is developed on the ALFA platform, outsourced from its elder sibling Altroz. Under the hood, it receives power from a 1.2-litre Revotron engine with Dyna-Pro technology. There will be an option of a five-speed manual gear transmission system and an AMT transmission system. According to the sources of Tata, the AMT version receives altitude calibration that helps to retain the powerful performance of the vehicle on all terrains. It will have two driving modes - City and Eco, followed by a ‘traction pro’ feature.

The concept of Punch was showcased during the Indian Auto Expo 2020, where it was shown as an HBX concept. On the exterior front, it receives lines similar to Harrier and the Safari, a large-shaped headlight studded on the bumper, and a set of LED DRLs. The front fascia is the same as the compact SUV and receives the signature of Tata’s logo. The top-end trims are offered with dual-coloured options.

The rear profile is similar to the Renault Kwid, except for a triple arrow mark on the rear bumper and LED taillights. The whole exterior receives the excess of plastic cladding. On the safety front, it receives dual-airbags, ABS+EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and brake sway control, offered for the first time in the segment. The top-end trim will receive a reverse parking camera. Tata Punch will come in four trims, namely - Pura, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. Along with these trims, there will be two additional trims - the Rythm and the Dazzle. Both these variants will have some additional features.

The list of other features includes fully automatic climate control, 90-degree opening doors, rain-sensing wipers, a seven-inch Harman Infotainment System that supports connectivity to Apple CarPlay, and Tata’s iRA connectivity suite as an option. Inside the cabin, there is a boot space of 366 litres along with 25 utility spaces. The list of additional features includes body-coloured air conditioner vents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a gear knob. All these features are however offered on the top-end variant.
