Tata Nexon Scores 4 Stars In NCAP Ratings

Tata Nexon, the made in India subcompact SUV by domestic car maker Tata Motors has succeeded in scoring four stars in recent Global New Car Assessment Program. The sub compact scored 4 stars in adult occupant safety and 3 starts in child occupants safety. The test was conducted at ADAC testing destination in Munich, Germany and were endorsed stable by the NCAP. The speed of vehicle determined during the test was 64 kmph. The results revealed from the test are quite encouraging for Indian auto industry, especially for the home grown car maker. Commenting on the results Mr. Mayank Pareek,  President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, said, "With these test results, the Nexon is India's safest sub compact SUV, after being one of the most awarded models from the Tata Motors' PV stable. It is a proud moment for all our Nexon customers today. Our journey to offer best quality products continues."

During the test, main damage happened to the engine bay area and nearby zones that seem to be developed strictly for providing protection to the occupants. The structure of A-pillar remained stable, thus facilitating the front doors to operate smoothly after the crash. The compact SUV is offered with a plethora of safety features that include ABS+EBD, dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seat belts with pre-tensioners as a standard feature throughout all the trims.

During a crash, the compact SUV provided complete protection to the head and neck of front seat passengers. Along with this the integration of ISOFIX child restraint system is also capable of providing complete protection to the child of eighteen months old, offering protection to head and chest.

In the words of Mr. Dr Rohit Baluja, President of the Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE), "It shows that 'Made in India' and high levels of safety go together well. With excellent efforts like this from Tata and the new crash test standards now applied by the Indian Government we are going to see a steady improvement in the safety of new cars across the country and this will help to make our roads safer"
