Tata’s Proposed SUV H5X To Be Named As The ‘Harrier’
Finally, the domestic car maker Tata Motors has raised curtain from suspense behind the name of its upcoming SUV codenamed as H5X. The homegrown car maker has revealed that the upcoming SUV will be christened as Harrier. The production version of SUV was showcased earlier this year during the Indian Auto Expo and will be placed above the compact SUV Nexon. The first unit of SUV is speculated to be unveiled by the end of the ongoing year and will be launched sometime during the first quarter of next year.

Under the hood. Tata Harrier will be offered in both the petrol and diesel variants, with diesel variant to be equipped with 2.0 litre engine outsourced from Jeep Compass. As far as details of the petrol variant are concerned they are expected to be revealed in coming months. The Harrier will be the first vehicle by the car maker that will be based on the new Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA) monocoque platform following the IMPACT Design, 2.0 philosophy. The OMEGA design has been developed in joint collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover and at present is offered in Range Rover Evoque.

After launch in the Indian car market Harrier will be placed against Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass, and is believed to be a game changer for Tata Motors. Addressing the occasion Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger, Vehicle Business Unit, said,"With Turnaround 2.0 into play, we are geared to win sustainably in the market. We are proudly speeding towards our next market introduction - 'Tata Harrier', yet another game changer, to offer our customers a product, that is not only exciting but that which will take our brand value to the next level. This is in line with our well-defined go-to-market strategy. We are excited to introduce the 'Tata Harrier' to our customers and are gearing up for the commercial launch in the first quarter of 2019."
