The Guidelines For EV Charging Infrastructure Updated
The Ministry of Power, Government of India, updated the guidelines for establishing electric vehicle charging facilities, which were issued in January this year. The Ministry updated these guidelines in an official statement. According to reports, the updated guidelines have two editions. The first one relates to public charging stations (PCS). From now onwards, the PCS will have the facility of prepaid collection of service charges following the time of the day rates. Second, The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) will recommend the state governments a discount on solar hours and the ceiling limit of service charges that are levied on these charging stations.

This committee will also recommend a “time of the day rate” for service charges along with the discount allowed for charging during solar hours. The Ministry of Power issued these guidelines in January to encourage the move towards electric mobility and determine affordable tariffs to be charged from the operators of charging stations and owners of electric vehicles.
As per the data shared by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, there are 13,92,265 electric vehicles running on the roads in India as on August 3, 2022. In reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Heavey Industries, Krishan Pal Gurjar, informed the members.
