The upcoming SUV from Honda will carry engine from Honda City

With growing demand of SUV’s in Indian car market Honda Motors India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Japanese auto giant Honda Motors is working on introducing a SUV in Indian car market which will be based on platform of its hatchback Honda Brio. According to sources of company there is regular demand of SUV’s developed on same platform.
 
It would be worth mentioning that Honda’s first diesel sedan Honda Amaze was also developed on same platform and the same platform is being used for developing its upcoming MPV Mobilio. Developing a SUV on this platform will reduce its cost and will be easier for company to price it at competitive price similar to its competitors. It is also rumored that company is speculating to introduce the same SUV Indonesian car market. According to sources of company developing a SUV on Brio’s platform is a safe game for company as it is not only reliable but suitable according to Indian car market. Moving ahead sources also added that as far as introduction of same SUV in Indonesian car market is concern nothing has been so far finalized and will depend on company production ability and capacity.
 
As reported earlier during the Tokyo Motor Show 2013 Honda Motors had confirmed that it will be introducing a seven seater MPV and a SUV in Indian car market between 2014-15. It is also reported that the upcoming SUV will be equipped with same petrol and diesel engines 1.5-litre i-VTEC and 1.5-litre i-DTEC which are introduced in recently launched Honda City sedan.
