The Updated 2021 Kia Sonet And Seltos Launched In India
The Korean carmaker Kia Motors has updated the subcompact SUV Sonet and Seltos in the Indian car market. The prices of both the vehicles now starts from Rs 6.79 lakh and Rs 9.95 lakh respectively. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices. Speaking about the features introduced in the upgraded versions of both the vehicles include newly designed logo. The other features include the integration of paddle shifters in the automatic trims of both the Sonet and Seltos. Along with these features the company has also introduced iMT technology in the HTK+ variant of Seltos empowered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Speaking the launch of updated Sonet and Seltos, Kookhyun Shim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kia India said, "The refreshed editions of Seltos and Sonet mark the first steps towards our transformation in India and reiterate our new brand purpose of inspiring consumers through products, services and their experiences with the brand. The evolving needs of the customers are at the heart of our product strategy. Since launch, the Seltos and Sonet have been creating benchmarks in their respective segments, and with the additional variants, safety and convenience features, we are taking the game a notch higher. I am confident that Indian customers will keep showering their love on our products, and with these refreshed versions, we are ready to win India's heart once again."
Under the hood, the 2021 Seltos continues to be offered with the same existing engine options of 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol, 1.4-litre Smartstream T-GDI petrol, and 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual, an Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT), a 6-speed torque converter, a 7-speed DCT automatic and a 6-speed iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). The 2021 Sonet comes equipped with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.0-litre Turbo T-GDI petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The options for transmission includes a five-speed manual gear transmission system, a six-speed manual gear transmission system, a six-speed iMT transmission system, a six-speed torque converter system, and a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission system.

Moving towards the features offered in Sonet 2021 it comes equipped with ten new features consisting of rear door sunshade curtains, voice command for sunroof open and close. Both these features are offered for the first time in any of the vehicles in the segment. Other features offered in Sonet include Vehicle Stability Management, Brake Assist System, Hill Assist Control System, Electronic Stability Control System. Apart from these features the lower trims are also updated with the features like remote engine start, electronic sunroof, chrome garnished door handles, silver wheel caps, crystal cut alloy wheels and a few more.

The elder sibling Seltos receives 17 new features which are offered for the first time in the segment. These are Remote Engine Start in manual transmission system, Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus and Bacteria Protection, Wireless Phone Projection System, UVO connected car system, driver window control, Over the Air (OTA) map updates. Moving ahead the iMT variant is updated with dual color interiors of beige and black combination, automatic air conditioner, and a sunroof. On the safety front it comes equipped with Brake Assist System, Hill Assist Control System, Electronic Stability Control System, and a few more.
