Tokyo Motor Show 2015: Suzuki showcases Escudo aka Vitara
Japanese car maker Suzuki Motors had unveiled its concept car Vitara during the Paris Motor Show held last year and the car maker showcased its Japanese version codenamed as Escudo during ongoing Tokyo Motor Show 2015. The version of Vitara for Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) has been developed keeping in requirement of generation next buyers. With wheelbase of 2,500 mm the Escudo has length of 4,175mm, width of 1,775mm and height of 1,610mm. This means JDM version of Vitara is same as its global version.

In Japanese car maker Escudo would be offered only in petrol trim that would be empowered with 1.6 litre M16A four cylinder petrol engine churning the power of 86 kW and torque of 151 Nm. It is offered with both front wheel and four wheel drive options mated with six speed automatic transmission system and reported to deliver an average of 18.2 kmpl for two wheel drive option and 17.4 kmpl for four wheel drive system. Talking about the features that would be adorned in JDM version of Vitara will include LED headlamps along with automatic headlights, automatic dimming rear view mirror, keyless push start button, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, heated door mirrors (only for four wheel drive version), automatic air conditioners, touchscreen infotainment system and suede upholstery.
In global market the Escudo aka Vitara would also be offered with diesel engine option which would be enriched with 1.6 litre D16AA turbo diesel engine generating the power of 88kW and torque of 320Nm. The engine would be mated with six speed manual gear transmission system.
