Toyota car sales surge by 7 percent, Innova, Etios series, Fortuner sales on the rise
There are quite a few car makers who could pose some excitement in the Indian car industry. Japanese car giant Toyota India is one of them. With its Toyota Etios Liva hatchback and Etios sedan selling well besides an increase in the sales of Toyota Innova and the SUV Fortuner have led the sales into the positive side. Toyota Kirloskar Motor revealed in a report that it sold 19,452 units, in the domestic market during the current year’s month of March. Company’s representative stated gladly that company has witnessed 7% growth in the sales in the comparison to the previous year’s March month. The sales for the previous March month, did account for 18,220 units. The company did export 1,691 units in the current year’s March month.
Sandeep Singh (Deputy MD and COO, Marketing and Commercial Dept.) has reportedly mentioned enthusiastically that it is a commendable achievement by taking into the account, the prevailing economic recession in the concerned domain. He also did mention the possible factors that led to growth. According to him, those possible factors could be high customer acceptance of the newly launched models of Etios Liva and Etios. Another yet notable factor could be the impressive sales of the Fortuner and Innova. Increment in the SUV’s excise duty and implementation related to the increased road tax in few states, further paved the way for the company to achieve growth as the stock of pre-budget vehicles got cleared at a rapid speed.
Though Maruti Ertiga did some damage to Innova sales, while Mahindra XUV 5OO played spoilsport for Fortuner but the sales of these two Toyota cars have recovered in the recent past and these have proved to be the best selling cars by this car maker in the country. The new model of the Fortuner has gained good response in the market and it is highly believed that it will be able to do well in the future as well.
