Toyota Etios and Etios Liva Diesel launched
September 7, 2011 - Toyota Bharat has launched Toyota Etios Diesel and Etios Liva diesel in the Indian auto market. Both models are equipped with the Toyota’s 1.4L, D-4D diesel engine that can generate maximum power of 67 bhp at 3800 rpm with the impressive torque figure of 170 Nm. As per the ARAI test reports, the new Toyota Etios diesel offers the mileage of 23.59 kmpl. The diesel engine is also equipped with the turbo charger which is almost similar like company’s popular luxury sedan model Toyota Corolla Altis.
Toyota motors, after facing some problems due to the calamities in Japan, has now gained its old vigour and is back on track with the production of units in the Indian plants on a high scale.
The company had launched the Toyota Etios Sedan in December 2010 and it has been a very successful Sedan in the Indian market and was able to draw away the sales from other auto giants in their favour.

The hatchback version of this car, named Toyota Etios Liva is to be launched on 27th of June, and it is certain too stir up the market of smaller cars and a much higher competition can be expected in the sales after its launch.
In another move, the company has decided to launch the diesel variants for both these cars by the end of 2011.

The root cause to this decision is the high rising rates of petrol and thus a better sales expectancy is eminent for the diesel engine powered cars. This move will further elevate the competition between various Auto Giants and the buyers will have a large number of options to choose from.

The engine specifications have not yet been disclosed for the diesel variants but a slight cut on the performance is expected. The price tag has also not been revealed yet.

Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
