Toyota Fortuner, Corolla Cross, And Hilux Score Five Stars In ASEAN NCAP

The integration of safety features in the upcoming cars is not enough to protect you from any damage, nowadays, the carmakers are making efforts to equip their vehicles with the technically advanced features that are able to protect you from the very beginning. According to recent reports revealed by the ASEAN NCAP, for three vehicles by the Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors, the 2021 Fortuner, Hilux, and Corolla Cross have succeeded in scoring 5 stars in the crash test conducted in August this year.

The ASEAN NCAP is an organization responsible for conducting the crash test of the vehicles launched in Asia and Oceania regions. The organization is a part of Global NCAP. To begin with, the pick-up Hilux, which is already on sale in the Thailand car market, was equipped with three airbags. During the test, the dummies were protected, except the driver legs which were at a verge of an injury.

The 2021 Fortuner scored 87.46 points (47.27 for AOP, 22.13 for COP, and 18.06 for SATs). An interesting fact about the crash test for Fortuner is that it scored 3.50 points for head protection, which is much better from the Hilux which received only 2.40 points for the head protection. As far as scores for front and side impacts are concerned, they are similar to scores achieved by Hilux, 14.53 and 16.0 points respectively.

The compact SUV Corolla Cross received 88.61 points during the test. Although, it performed well during the side crash but received an average rating for the driver’s chest area. Similarly, it is also reported risky for injury on the legs of front-seat passengers.
