Toyota Kirloskar, the Indian alliance of Japanese auto giant Toyota Motors has finally launched the Glanza hatchback in the Indian car market with the price tag of Rs. 7.21 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi) for the entry level trim. At present it is offered in the petrol variant and in two trims namely G and V. Glanza is the part of joint collaboration between the Toyota Motors and Maruti Suzuki India Limited for sharing each other’s technology and therefore is promoted as the copied version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno. After launch in the market it will go against the likes of Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.

 

 

Under hood the Glanza is offered with two BS VI compliant engines consisting of 1.2 litre K12B petrol and 1.2 litre K12C Dualjet petrol engine. The variant empowered with the 1.2 litre engine generates the power of 83 bhp and the torque of 113Nm, whereas the latter generates the power of 90 bhp and the torque of 113Nm. The transmission duty is performed  by five speed manual gearbox and a CVT transmission system. The variant equipped with manual gear transmission system offers an average of 21.01 kmpl whereas the variant with CVT transmission system offers an average of 19.56 kmpl. It would be interesting to know that going through the increasing of concern of green driving, the company is also offering the hybrid version with K12C Smart Hybrid variant that is reported to offer an average of 23.87 kmpl. Moving ahead, with an objective of offering the smooth drive the company is offering the facility of three years/1,00,000 kms warranty across all the trims of the Glanza. 

 

Developed on the new HEARTECT platform the Glanza is offered with some remarkable features consisting of LED projector automatic headlamps with DRLs and follow me home function, electronic ORVM, smart entry with engine start/stop button, diamond cut alloy wheels, 60:40 split rear seats. Along with these features the list of other features includes steering mounted audio and calling controls with voice command, TFT multi-information display system, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Navigation. The list of safety features includes ABS+EBD, dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat as standard feature and brake assist system.
