Toyota Kirloskar Motors annual sales up 82 per cent
Guess which Toyota car in India should be crowned for bringing in 82 percent annual growth to the Japanese car maker. Is it Toyota Etios sedan or Toyota Etios Liva? If we go by the numbers, Toyota Etios sedan is a sure winner this year for Toyota cars in India. Toyota Etios Liva hatchback stood second with over 20,262 units sold in 2011. In all Toyota has nine car offerings in India and has a car or two in every segment viz. hatchback, sedan, MPV or SUV.
As per the official sales figures released by Toyota Kirloskar Motor, in December alone the company sold 15,948 units registering a growth of 151 percent compared to the same month last year when it sold only 6362 units. Clocking a growth of 82 percent, Toyota has sold 1.36 lakh units in 2011 compared to 74, 762 units it sold in 2010.

Encouraged with the performance, Mr. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director–Marketing said that Toyota has been able to perform exceedingly well despite the unfortunate Tsunami in Japan and the consequent floods in Thailand. He also capped Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva to be the sales drivers of 2011. He termed the Toyota customers to be the real stars of the success.

Besides these two star performers, MPV Toyota Innova (51,930 units) followed by Toyota Fortuner (10,946 units) and the premium sedan Toyota Corolla Altis (9,283 units) have also performed exceedingly well compared to 2010.

However, in the year 2012 it would be tough for all the companies to perform, as there will be buoyant additions to almost every segment and competition in every segment will stiffen. Currently Toyota is offering nine products in India including Toyota Etios Liva, Toyota Etios, Toyota Innova, Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Toyota Land Cruiser 200.
