Toyota Kirloskar Motors Resumes Its Operational Activities
Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) the Indian alliance of Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors has partially commenced its operational activities at its production unit in Bidadi, Karnataka. Although, these activities will be stagnated to only preparatory operations for ensuring that the workers are provided safe working conditions while the company starts its overall production activities. In the beginning, the team of cross-functional experts from TKM will create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and make all the necessary arrangements that will protect the workers from any kind of health issue. For the first few days, the workers will be given training for getting familiar with the new guidelines following the instructions like ‘social distancing’ and sanitization.

By resuming the partial operations, the company will prioritize on strengthening the supply of spare parts to the dealership. Along with this, to make its customers assure about any kind of service the company is planning to digitalize the sales process consisting of the virtual tour of the vehicle, 360-degree product views for the customers, receiving quotations online, and selecting the best finance option. The vehicle will be delivered at the doorsteps of the customers once the process of purchase is accomplished.
Commenting on the decision of resuming the operations, Mr. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales, and Service, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "We thank the Government for the permission granted to the Industries in Rural areas to start operations. As a responsible corporate, TKM places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of our employees and other stakeholders and will continue working in concurrence with the State and Central Government's directives. TKM intends to restart operations at the earliest. With the inputs from various stakeholders, including the Government agencies, we have released a detailed "Restart Manual" in this regard. The challenge that lies ahead of us is the fact that for the auto sector to start production, it is necessary that our entire value chain starts operating. Our value chain consists not only of our suppliers but our dealers as well who are based in different parts of the country including cities that are still under severe lockdown."
