Toyota Kirloskar registers 99 percent growth in July 2011

Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the Indian unit of the Japan based leading automaker Toyota, has registered a whopping 99 percent surge in its sales in July 2011. The company managed to sell a total of 13,551 units of its vehicles during this month, almost doubling the sales figures registered in the same month a year ago.

The sales of different India portfolio models of the Toyota during the month of July was as follows – Toyota Etios – 4,095; Toyota Liva – 2,551; Toyota Corolla Altis – 1,030; Toyota Innova – 4,816; Toyota Fortuner – 1,060.

While the multi utility vehicle Innova kept outperforming all other competitors in its segment, the luxury sports utility vehicle Fortuner maintained four figure sales. On the other hand, the premium sedan corolla Altis, which was recently launched in a refreshed version in the country, registered a 30 percent growth in sales as against units sold in the same month last year. On the other hand, the entry level sedan Etios registered respectable sales figures, turning out the second highest selling Toyota nameplate in the country after Innova.

However, the recently launched Etios Liva hatchback has received a lukewarm response in the country with just 4,000 orders received in the initial month. With a moderate performance didn’t match the performance of its other segment siblings like Innova and Fortuner which are delivering a segment leading performance throughout.
