Toyota Lexus to debut in 2017, Hybrid version also in pipeline
Despite of so many luxurious cars available in Indian car market absence of Toyota Lexus has always been a talking point among Indian car enthusiasts. However, it does not mean that no attempts were made by Japanese car maker to launch the sedan in Indian car market. It was in 2013 when for the first time it was reported that Toyota is going to launch Lexus in Indian car market, but unfortunate due to 100% import duty on auto parts it was not possible for Japanese auto giant to launch the vehicle in India. It is now once again rumored that TKM, the Indian arm of Toyota Motors is going to launch this luxurious sedan in Indian car market sometimes during 2017.
Interestingly this time the news regarding launch of Lexus has been even confirmed by TKM officials, without revealing any details but only confirming the launch of vehicle in 2017. According to spokesperson of Toyota Kirloskar Motors "It is true that we are studying introducing Lexus to India. However, we would like to refrain from commenting on details such as timing, models etc., as it relates to future product plan."
It would be important to mention here that news regarding launch of Nexus does not mean that there has been decline in import duty, but going to relaxation in import duties for hybrid and electronic vehicles, Japanese car maker is speculating to take the advantage of condition.
