Toyota Motors India posts 19.83 per cent growth in August 2012

Toyota Kirloskar Motors witnessed a growth of 19.83 per cent in the month of August 2012. The company managed to sell around 13,995 units during the month of August 2012. In the same time period last year, Toyota Kirloskar Motors India sold 11,679 units. Toyota India official stated that the increase in the monthly sales is driven majorly due to Toyota Innova MPV, Toyota Etios and Toyota Fortuner premium SUV.

Sandeep Singh, the Deputy Managing Director, Marketing mentioned that the company has managed to post a positive growth rate on the back of its bestselling vehicles like Toyota Innova, Toyota Etios and Toyota Fortuner. He further mentioned that the company recently launched the new version of Toyota Camry premium saloon in India. Ever since the launch of sedan in India it has roped in 111 bookings.

Toyota Camry sedan is being manufactured locally in the country at the company’s manufacturing facility located in Bangalore. The Etios sedan and Liva hatchback accounted for three per cent of the company’s accrued sales in the month of August at 5,698 units. In the same time period last year, the company sold 5,524 units of the Etios sedan and Liva hatchback. Toyota Innova continued to sell in good numbers at 6,439 units sold in August 2012 as compared to only 4, 303 units sold last year in the same time period resulting in a hike of 50 per cent.

On the other hand Toyota Fortuner sales for the month of August 2012 stood at 1,289 units. In August 2011, Toyota sold only 897 units of Toyota Fortuner SUV therefore registering a 44 per cent growth in August 2012. Toyota Camry which was launched in India in the last week of August received 60 units of bookings in August 2012 which  is impressive. In August 2011, Toyota sold only 34 units of Camry in India, posting a whopping 76 per cent growth in August 2012.Toyota Corolla Altis which is another good selling model from the clan of Toyota which surprisingly sold only 492 units, however in the same time period last year, the company sold 913 units registering a 54 per cent fall in August 2012.
