Toyota Motors Introduces Subscription Policy For Its Buyers
Japanese carmaker Toyota Motors is going to introduce a new subscription option for the buyers of its cars to use the remote car start feature. According to reports, the new subscription option is a part of the company’s new Connected Services feature. The buyers of Toyota cars in future will be given the option to opt for the features of the connected service. It includes the feature of using the Remote Connect, for locking and unlocking the car with a key fob. It can be said, that with the introduction of such a subscription option, the buyers of new cars will now have to pay a fixed charge every month to use ‘smart features’ available in a particular car.

According to reports, at present, the Japanese auto giant is offering this option for using Remote Control. The duration of this trial period depends on the audio package included in the vehicle. Presently few cars from the maker are available with the Audio Plus or Premium Audio packages that allow these car owners to use this free trial. Although, the subscription charges to use the feature of Connected Services is not revealed by the company. Experts believe that it would be around $8/month or $80/per year plans. It would be interesting to know that Tesla also offers the same subscription plans for the buyers of its car through paid OTA (Over the Air). The buyers opting for this plan can use specific features that are inbuilt in the car, but accessible only after paying for them.
Tesla is offering a subscription plan for using the “Rear Heated Seats” feature in its car. For this, the company is charging a one-time payment instead of charging it per month. Well, in the current scenario this facility sounds something unusual, the day is not far from the reality when the buyers will be allowed to use smart features in their cars only by subscribing for them.
