Toyota Motors recall 550,000 vehicles worldwide due to steer issues
One of the world’s largest automobile manufacturer; Toyota Motor Corporation, is determined to recall its vehicles from around the globe. A total number of around 550,000 Toyota automobiles are likely to face this retract; which mainly comprises of cars from America.
The call back decision was taken by the company, as its vehicles could probably encounter problems related to crankshaft pulley placed on the power-train that may make it rigid enough to steer.
The Japanese auto major’s sales department informed that in case if this problem is not fixed at the earliest, then the risk of detachment .of belt from power steering pump cannot be ruled out.
The call back of vehicles concerns 283,200 Toyota brand automobiles from America along with 137,000 Lexus automobiles that consists of 2004 and 2005 sedan Camry, Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Highlander and Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) Sienna.
From Japan around 38,000 units are being taken back along with 25,000 cars in New Zealand and Australia will witness this retract, as informed by Mr. Dion Corbett, a representative for Toyota Motors. So far no mishap or any grievance has been registered in regards to this complexity.
Earlier there were about three recalls made by the company for its vehicles for various issues during the period between the years 2009 to 2010. The retract dates are as follows, with first on 2nd November 2009, followed by 21st January 2010 and the third on 28th January 2010.
Although the company faces concerns outside India but inside the country in the past month of October it saw a sales improvement of around 63 percent as compared to last year in the same month. The growth was exceptional, taking in consideration the fact that in the same month the nation’s no.1 and no. 2 passenger carmaker; Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors respectively, received a collapse in their sales volumes.
