Toyota to launch Duster, Verna rivals soon
The compact SUV segment in India is getting blistering hot day by day. It had a sensational introduction at the Indian Auto Expo held in January when it was revealed that Ford and Maruti are coming up with Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha and then came Renault Duster that literally set it afire. Now reports are coming in that Toyota is going to launch a compact SUV to outshine the current as well as forthcoming SUVs. The segment has lots of space and it can accommodate several offerings and other car makers such as Volkswagen, Hyundai and Honda have already set this in their ambit.

Meanwhile, in order to make its position right, the Japanese car maker has already stepped up the production of Toyota Etios sedan and Toyota Etios Liva hatchback as the car maker has got tremendous response for these two cars. Besides these two offerings, Toyota Innova, Toyota Fortuner are also doing well in their respective segments. However Maruti Ertiga has eaten some of the share of Innova while Chevrolet Captiva and Skoda Yeti have to some extent dampened prospects of the Fortuner. Now, putting a car under the Fortuner will be a great strategy for Toyota and it seems to have finalized all the things and it is only the name that is to come up.

Another major revelation that is doing rounds is that the car maker will also be launching a sedan that will be placed between the Toyota Corolla Altis and Etios. This car will be competing with Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Honda City and other big wigs like upcoming Hyundai Elantra in the price band. Here the pricing of New Hyundai Elantra will be crucial as it is expected to fall around 13-16 Lakh range. This way the car maker will not only increase its stronghold over the market, it will also enhance its presence in a wide variety of segments.
