Validity Of Vehicular Documents Extended Till March 31, 2021, By MoRTH

In its recent order, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has extended the validity date of renewing the vehicular documents till March 31, 2021. The Ministry has taken this taken decision as a preventive step to restrict the extension of COVID-19. The Ministry has sent the notification regarding this to ministries of all the States and the Union Territories. According to the notification issued by the MoRTH, the dates of the documents like fitness certificates, driving license, registration certificates permits and various other documents will be valid till March 31, 2021.
 
 
It is for the fourth time this year when a notification regarding the extension of vehicles documents has been issued by the MoRTH due to the impacts of global pandemic COVID-19. With this new notification, the vehicles whose documents which were required to be renewed after February 1, 2020, or which had expired before March 31, 2020, will be valid till March 31, 2021. Before this, the same type of advisory was issued by the ministry during March, June, and August this year. 
 
The new notification issued by MoRTH states, "Taking into consideration the need to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is further advised that the validity of all of the above-referred documents may be treated to be valid till 31st March 2021. This covers all documents whose validity has expired since 1st February 2020 or would expire by 31st March 2021. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till 31st of March 2021."
 
The decision regarding the extension of validity for the vehicular documents was taken in the recent meeting of the ministry under the supervision of Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari, speculating the existing situation to be normal by next year.
