Volkswagen Polo, Jetta, Passat, Golf and Caddy recalled

Almost 26,000 units of Volkswagen cars including Polo, Golf, Jetta, Passat and Caddy have been recalled in Australia. It is reported that due to faulty in seven-speed DQ200 direct-shift gearbox (DSG) the company is recalling all these car models manufactured between June 2008 and September 2011. The German car maker has also recalled its cars in Japan, China and Singapore. Only in Japan the company has recalled 91,000 cars last month due to potential gearbox problems.

The VW AG said that high-tech DSG automatic transmissions having cars manufactured in Europe and sold in Australia do not require a recall. Meanwhile, in recalled cars, the German auto giant would replace the transmission system unit free of cost. In year 2012, it sold 3.17 million Volkswagen vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region including 2.81 million units in China.

On the other hand, in Indian auto market, Toyota, Nissan, Renault and Chevrolet have also made announcement about the recall of many of vehicles. Toyota recalled the diesel model of Corolla Altis, Nissan has recalled the some units of Micra and Sunny, Renault recalling the Pulse and Scala, while GM India has recalled the BS-III engine having units of Tavera and diesel models of twins Sail.
